Welcome to easy2sew

My goal is to offer easy quilt patterns to spark your creativity. My patterns utilize a variety of techniques including fusible applique, strip piecing and embellishing. Through these patterns you will broaden your knowledge as you create wonderful quilts and wall hangings. Most of my patterns are perfect for quilters who already know basic quilting techniques such as how to use a rotary cutter. When you click on a pattern you will see the techniques involved.

While I love Batiks and Asian, prints any cotton fabrics can be substituted for the ones that I use. If you are a beginner, consider starting with Japanese Tiles or Royal Asian (found under Asian Influence) two simple Asian quilt patterns that allow you to use lots of different fabrics. The Raggedy Kids Quilt (under Fun for Kids) introduces you to a rag quilt pattern and is a great project for children as well as adults. If you love pinwheels, consider Over the Rainbow (Fun for Kids) or Spin Cycle (Great Lap Quilts).

Triangle Paper provides an accurate way to create half-square and quarter-square triangles. You might try it on quilts such as Byzantine Tiles, Floral Stars (Great Lap Quilts) or Asian Influence.

Do you enjoy embroidery? The Purr-fect Pillow or the Sunny Pillow (Home Decor) are pillow patterns for you or that special child in your life. My daughter embroidered them when she was 9 years old, proving that they are easy quilt patterns for kids to make. You will also find table runner patterns and small wall-hangings in Home Decor.

Are you looking for a quilt for your wall? Consider Sun, Moon & Stars (Art Quilts), Wake Up!, Joy! or Good Morning (Home Decor). These quilts are created using fusible web and they are a quick way to brighten up any room.

If you have a budding quilter in your midst, be sure to check out the books under Now & Then Publications. I co-wrote two stories with my sister explaining how fabric and quilts were made long ago and how they are made today. Both books (Cotton Now & Then and Quilting Now & Then) are written in rhyme and are sure to please children from 6-12 years of age with their colorful drawings and interesting information. Our third book, Fabric "Fun for Kids" is a how-to book to help you get your future quilter started with great projects for children of all ages.

Judaica is also a passion of mine. I have been commissioned to make a number of Torah covers and synagogue art. For a gift that lasts a lifetime, consider a one-of-a-kind tallis. I collaborate with a print artist in New York to create original tallitot which reflect the color choices of the individual. You will find them in the Gallery section under Judaica and Tallit.

Under Custom Quilts, you will see a photo-transfer quilt created to celebrate a Bar Mitzvah. Thirteen photographs were put onto fabric and specials messages were inscribed on the back of the quilt. This is a unique way to remember an important occasion. Birthdays and anniversaries can also be celebrated in this way.

Also in the category of custom quilts are my small framed fiber collage pieces. I love combining texture and color in this smaller format. These pieces are priced including the frame. If you would like to see my larger art quilts, please visit the art quilt Gallery and click on the images for more detailed information.

Quilting is my passion and I am always learning new techniques to incorporate into my art. If there are designs that you would like to see or questions that you have, feel free to e-mail me. I would love to hear what you are working on.

Happy quilting,

Karen
